Crans Montana, Switzerland, July 25: Read what leading leading Asian Tour players have to say after their third round at the Omega European Masters.
David Lipsky (Usa),Third Round 69 (-9 Total)
Q. A very testing round of golf for you today?
A. It was brutal out there with the winds picking up. I made up grounds with the leaders which was my goal today. I thought I would lose ground shooting one-under but with this wind today, you just got to hold on and hope for the best.
Q. Over the three rounds that you’ve played, how does it compare to how you’ve played this year?
A. The course is playing a little different especially with this wind. It was more of a birdie fest last year which was what we got for the first two rounds here. But today it was pretty tough.
Q. Your thoughts on tomorrow?
A. Obviously I want to win the title and there’s lots of pressure involved with that. But whoever I’m playing with tomorrow, I’m just going to go out there and have some fun as this is what it’s all about. I’ll definitely be looking at the leaderboard as it helps me to know what I need to do to progress through the round.
Seukhyun Baek (Kor),Third Round 74 (-8 Total)
Q. It must have been tough for you especially with all the leaders struggling out there today.
A. Yes. It was really hard as I’ve never seen this golf course so windy before. I was playing pretty decently until hole 11 where I three-putted there and continued to bogey 13, 14 and 16. I made a good comeback on 17. I’m not happy with the score but that’s the way it is.
Q. Must be difficult to keep your focus when you’re dropping shots.
A. Yes. It was a challenge trying to stay focused as the winds were really affecting my play. I got one OB on 14 because of the wind.
Q. You’re not completely out of it.
A. When I reached the last hole, I found out I was only four back. So I still have a chance.
Anirban Lahiri (Ind), Third Round 70 (-6 Total)
It was a tough day as you can make out from the scoring today. It was blowing a gale especially on the back-nine and it was really tough. I’m really disappointed. I hit one shot on 14 today which pretty much caused me three shots. I hit it out of bounds and ended up making a double there. I thought I could at least make a birdie there and that was probably my only regret all day. I fought back hard after that with two birdies as my concentration was not really good earlier on. I tried to gather myself from there but overall it was a fighting round of even-par under tough conditions and I’m terribly disappointed.
Jazz Janewattananond (Tha),Third Round 70 (-5 Total)
I was struggling out there today as I didn’t take my chances on the front-nine. I didn’t putt well there but I made a good comeback on my back-nine which was also tough as the winds were swirling. They really picked up there and you really got to control your shots because if you don’t, they will cost you dearly. Although this is the first time I’m playing here, I’m not really surprised with the good run I’ve having. This is because I prepared myself well for this tournament. I trained really hard and I was mentally focused.
