One for the Ages

Manila, February 10: While the leaders were hogging the limelight, one particular match at the ICTSI Philippine Open was a special attraction in itself.

Filipino legend Frankie Minoza, Thai great Boonchu Ruangkit and Lu Wen-teh of Chinese Taipei were paired together in the opening two rounds at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club and golf pundits were trying to crunch out some interesting numbers.

Between the veteran trio, their total ages rounded up to a healthy 155 years with Boonchu being the elder statesman at 55, Minoza at 52 and Lu the junior member in the senior club at 48.

In total, they have plied their trade as professional golfers for a combined 75 years and through their years of clocking thousands of air miles and walking the finest fairways on the Asian Tour, the trio hold a combine 34 professional victories amongst themselves.

Boonchu and Frankie made the halfway cut with identical 149 totals but it was an early week for Lu who missed the cut.

That’s one for the ages indeed.
