November 16: Asian Tour members Wade Ormsby of Australia and American Jason Knutzon overcame a gruelling six-round marathon to secure their European Tour cards at the final stage of the Qualifying School held in Girona, north-eastern Spain on Friday.
Local hope Carlos Del Moral romped to a five-shot victory at the PGA Catalunya Resort, where a total of 27 players from 15 different countries earn their place on The 2014 Race to Dubai.
Ormsby, who claimed his maiden title on the Asian Tour at the Panasonic Open India in April, compiled a six-round total of 12-under-par 416 to regain his European Tour card.
“I got my European Tour card back today. Thanks so much for everyone's support this week. It’s going to be a big year ahead. My game is back. That’s the best thing!” tweeted Ormsby, who is currently 10th on the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit.
Meanwhile Knutzon totalled 419 to make the cut-off mark at the final stage of the European Tour’s Qualifying School.
The 37-year-old made his debut in Asia in 2003 and has been one of the longest member on the Asian Tour, where he has claimed two victories.
