Kuala Lumpur, February 19: Casey O’Toole will immediately check-in a Hilton Hotel after acing the 12th hole in the second round of the Maybank Championship Malaysia to win one million Hilton Honours points on Friday.
The reigning Asian Development Tour (ADT) Order of Merit winner sank his career’s first hole-in-one with a seven iron from 193 yards which helped him to a four-under-par 67 at the Royal Selangor Golf Club.
“It looked good the whole way, took one bounce and then hopped straight in the cup. I didn’t see it go in, but when I heard the yells I realised what had happened. It’s my first in competition, I’d had four or five in total, but all the others were in practice. So this is the first one that really counts,” said O’Toole.
He safely qualified for the final two rounds on four-under-par 138 and will not have any concerns on where to stay during the weekend as his current hotel was only booked until tonight.
“It is great because I didn’t have a place to stay tonight! I wasn’t sure I was going to get in the tournament when I booked my hotel, so I was supposed to check out today. Now I can upgrade to the Hilton,” said O’Toole.
The American is playing in his third year in Asia. He started his career on the ADT where he won once last year and went on to secure the Merit title which earned him playing rights on the 2016 Asian Tour season.
Ends.
