Peterson shares the clubhouse lead #HIO2018

New Delhi, India, March 8: Paul Peterson of the United States shot an opening five-under-par 67 to share the clubhouse lead with Matteo Manassero of Italy and Pablo Larrazabal of Spain at the ongoing Hero Indian Open.

This year's LeoPalace21 Myanmar Open champion had a near flawless round scoring six birdies against a lone bogey. Most significantly, the American did not drop a shot from holes 14 to 18, which are deemed by many players to be particularly challenging.

Larrazabal scored a double bogey at the par-five 15th as well as bogeys on the first and ninth. However, he also carded nine birdies, which negated the deficit and brought him to the top of the leaderboard.

Matteo Manassero was particularly pleased with how he bounced back from a double bogey and bogey on holes 15th and 16th respectively. The 2012 Singapore Open champion, who started from the 10th hole, scored seven birdies against one bogey for the remainder of the round to sign a 67.

Asian Tour members Nicholas Fung of Malaysia, Panuphol Pittayarat of Thailand, Terry Pilkadaris of Australia carded matching 69s to stay within sight of the leaders.
