Prayad and Kim inspire Team Asia with win

Kuala Lumpur, March 28: Prayad Marksaeng and Kim Hyung-sung led the revival of Team Asia by gaining a valuable point with a convincing 4&3 victory over Denmark’s Thomas Bjorn and Thorbjorn Olesen in the second round foursomes at the EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM on Friday.
The Asian duo produced the first point for Team Asia on a day where the team fought back after a crushing defeat on day one. They will enter the final round Singles format trailing Team Europe by four points at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club Garden course.
Team Asia’s funny man and eight-time Asian Tour winner Prayad was delighted to win the first point for his team after combining perfectly with the lanky Kim. They were three-up after 12 holes and needed to par 15 to seal the victory after Team Europe bogeyed 14 from close range.
“There was not much pressure on us. Kim looked a bit pressured but we just kept going and tried to help each other. It is good to be the first to win. Now my teammates will be inspired to fight for more points in the Singles matches. Hopefully we can cause an upset,” said the 48-year-old Prayad who will play against Jamie Donaldson in the Singles.
Kim believes the ‘gloves have come off’ and Team Asia are prepared to face the strong challenges from the experienced Team Europe side, led by playing captain Miguel Angel Jimenez of Spain.

“The gloves have come off. It feels good to win so all the matches tomorrow will be critical. We (with Prayad) got good vibes and it feels great to win. We were a little upset after yesterday’s defeat but it was fun to go out and be on the winning team,” smiled the Korean.
Kim, who finished second on the 2013 Japan Golf Tour’s money list, will face Pablo Larrazabal of Spain in the Singles.
