Que hopes to end best year with Dubai high

Dubai, December 8: Filipino star Angelo Que will be aiming to end his career best season on the Asian Tour by winning the inaugural Dubai Open next week.
The effervescent Que said he was looking forward to a strong finish at The Els Club Dubai from December 18 to 21 following a banner year which includes a memorable second place finish at the Hong Kong Open and tied eighth outing in the CIMB Classic, co-sanctioned with the PGA Tour, in Malaysia.
The Dubai Open, promoted and organised by golf in DUBAi, will make its debut on the region’s premier Tour which many, including Que, have lauded as a massive development for the Asian Tour. It is the final event of the 2014 Asian Tour season.
“I think it’s great that we have a new tournament in Dubai and I’m looking forward to it. I’ve had a great year with some good results and hopefully, I can put my name down as the first winner of the Dubai Open. That would make 2014 truly special,” said Que.

Known for wearing striking golf clothes which has earned him the nickname as “Human Highlighter”, Que is keen to end a four-year title drought and land a fourth Asian Tour victory.
He believes that a happy family life where he has two young children with wife Tracey has been one of the keys to his great run of form. “My wife takes care of everything at home. All I have to do is just play,” he said.
“You know, that’s the best deal you’re ever going to get. I’m always thinking about home, but at the same time I’m not worried because my wife is there and she’s taking care of everything and she just tells me, ‘just do well and I’ll take care of everything’.”
The carefree Filipino believes that displaying a positive attitude on the golf course has helped him earn over US$380,000 this season, the highest haul in his 10-year career on the Asian Tour.
“My mind is stronger now, I’m thinking clearer on the golf course and making good decisions which helps a lot. I’ve made great decision and it’s the key to winning a golf tournament and finishing well,” said the 36-year-old Que.
“I think I have a good chance of challenging (for wins).  I was wondering what the difference is between those guys on top, between me and them.  I think I know now. I’ve realized it, that you just need some good breaks, learn from other people, and just trust yourself. I think that’s the key, and I’ve been doing it.
“Whenever you’re not sure, you end up hitting a pretty lousy shot because it’s not free.  You’re having doubts.  So when you commit to a shot, even if it’s the wrong club, at least you’ve committed to the shot.
“I learned that in Hong Kong, especially on the last hole where I committed to the shot and I hit a great shot (for a closing birdie that got him into a play-off). From then on, I think you just have to commit to it; you just have to trust it.  Whatever will be, will be,” said Que, very much in the tune of the famous song “Que Sera Sera”.
