Que on a quest at Yeangder TPC

Taipei, September 11: Angelo Que of the Philippines is gearing up for a big week at the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship as a solid result or a victory in the US$500,000 Asian Tour event will open up new doors for the Filipino ace.
Que, a three-time Asian Tour winner, is currently ranked 334th on the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) and he needs to maintain his position in the world rankings to qualify for the ISPS HANDA World Cup of Golf in November.
The cut off date for the top-60 field is on September 23 with the projected cut on the OWGR expected to be around 340th position.
“It is a very big week for me because if I play well I get to represent my country in the ISPS HANDA World Cup of Golf. It is a big event with a good field. It would mean the world to me if I can get into the event,” said Que, who played in the World Cup of Golf in 2008 and 2009.
He finished tied 22nd at the Omega European Masters on Sunday and is confident of maintaining his superb form at the Linkou International Golf and Country Club where he finished tied 14th last year.
Currently ranked 16th on the Order of Merit courtesy of two top-five results, Que also has the opportunity to play in the lucrative CIMB Classic in October in Malaysia if he breaks and stays inside the top-10 of the Order of Merit by October 7.
“I’ve been playing pretty solid so I can pretty much score on any golf course. I played well here last year and putted great. If I do that again, then I think I can be in the top-10 or top-five which would secure my spot in the World Cup,” said Que.
“I took a lot of rest during the break because it is going to get hectic towards the end of the season. Right now I have a chance to get into the CIMB Classic as well. If I keep doing what I’ve been doing then I need to plan my travels and get more rest because I’m not getting any younger,” added the 35-year-old.
The jovial Filipino will rely on his steady putting in his quest for a fourth Asian Tour victory at the Yeangder TPC.
“I worked a lot on my putting during the break. That has been pretty much my weakness. I played in the local events and I did well. Putting is the key for me. If I keep holing putts then I can put myself in position.
“I’ve cut down on my training and I usually do more quality and not quantity practice. That has always worked for me in the past four years,” he said.
Ends.
