POOM SAKSANSIN (THA) – SECOND ROUND 67 (-4), TOTAL 133 (-9)
It was great. I had good drives and if I missed, I missed at the right places and had a chance to get it close to the greens. Today, I putted good again. Chipped and putted a few times for pars.
I’m just aiming at the spot I want to hit and just hitting the shots. Sometimes, I’m missing some shots but I’ve been lucky. I’ve been able to make pars. Today, I got up and down six times for pars, some were from the fringe.
I managed to sleep well nice. This afternoon, when I came here, I was still thinking of just making the cut. But after the first hole, and second hole, I changed my mindset, just wanted to play golf.
I want to just focus on my game. Don’t want to think about winning. I just want to think about avoiding bogeys. Just think of pars. I’m tired now, maybe tomorrow I will feel more excited. Don’t feel any pressure now, not yet anyway.
I’m thinking about my posture when I’m the golf course. If my posture is good, my shots should be good and I’ll aim to the right places.
Made four birdies today, had one long putt from about 10 yards on the third hole. I’m not going to look at them too much. Just play my game tomorrow.
BAEK SEUK-HYUN (KOR) – SECOND ROUND 66 (-5), TOTAL 135 (-7)
I’m really happy with the score. As I told you, I don’t like this course as it’s hard to play here and the wind is hard to read. I started bogey, bogey but came back fast with birdies on 14 and 15 and then 17 and 18. It was a fast come back and my confidence came back. I made only four fairways today but my ball was just slightly missed on the fairway. My second shots were good to make birdies and my putting was good.
I was a little bit nervous after those bogeys. I know this course is tough. Hit a good drive on 14 and hit a good second shot and made the putt. I am not going to miss the cut and I tried to play well on this course, that was the goal. I just wanted to have some fun and tried to go for it.
This course, I never make a straight shot. If I want a draw, I’ll just go for a draw and if I want a fade, I’ll hit a fade. I can do it as I have confidence in my mind. When I pull off the shots, I get good confidence.
I have surprised myself by leading on this course. Two years ago, I led by three shots until the third hole and then on four, I made an eight. I was leading by one today and then made par on four which I was okay with that.
I’ve led the first two rounds many times, I don’t want to think about it. When I think about winning, I never play good. I want to concentrate on playing my golf and enjoy looking at the views here.

SIDDIKUR RAHMAN (BAN) – SECOND ROUND 70 (-1), TOTAL 138 (-4)
I’m happy for my round. The course is playing really tough. Today, I played one under par. Had some good up and downs.
It’s a bit tougher than the last few years as this year, the rough is quite long. The fairways are also narrower and all in all, it is tougher.
I missed some easy birdie putts but made some tough up and downs. Overall, it was equal. I wasn’t too disappointed missing those short putts.
I don’t think about anyone else. If I can play my game, this course needs fairways and greens, I just need more putts to go in.
This week, I’m trying to drive it on the short grass. I’m hitting some fades this week. Just trying to focus on getting more fairways.
CHINNARAT PHADUNGSIL (THA) – SECOND ROUND 70 (-1), TOTAL 138 (-4)
It wasn’t windy and many players can shoot a good score. But I made a bad start with a bogey on the first hole. I got a bit better but it was just regulation golf. I had two or three birdie chances before the birdie on six but just couldn’t get them in. Missed chances on 14, 15 and 18. The greens are grainy and it’s difficult to read them sometimes.
I think this week, maybe I will have a good chance. I feel like it’s such a long time ago when I won my last tournament (2009 Queen’s Cup). If I can play like yesterday, hit it good and if my putting works, I think I will have a chance. The swing feels okay.
ANTONIO LASCUNA (PHI) - SECOND ROUND 71 (E), TOTAL 140 (-2)
I missed a drive on my 11th hole (2nd hole) and had to take a penalty as my ball was in the long grass and ended up with a double bogey. I couldn’t hit a shot there. Then made three more bogeys after that.
I was angry as I was five under on my outward nine. Made some good putts. But I’m still in contention at two-under. No one is running away with it. I was trying to shoot a three under round. This course, it’s important to drive it well. You need to be consistent. I missed a drive on two and got penalized.

ANIRBAN LAHIRI (IND) – SECOND ROUND 68 (-3), TOTAL 143 (+1)
I haven’t played for two weeks straight and I was just not there yesterday. I couldn’t trust my swing and wasn’t sure of my yardages or my ball flight. It was kind of a guessing yesterday. I didn’t do too badly but hit one or two bad shots and that kind of switched my brain off. It was much better today in terms of my body responding to my mind.
Yesterday, I was visualizing something and something totally different was happening. I guess that happens when you don’t play much. I’m happy I managed to gain some ground. Two more days, we’ll see what happens.
I hit it really good today but putted poorly to say the least. Just made one bogey with a three putt. Probably missed only two greens all day. I had 33 putts to shoot three under. Hit it really good. It’s not an easy course to hit many greens and fairways and I did that. I just need to rest a little bit like I did yesterday. I’m not 100 per cent fit as I’ve been fighting a runny nose and a heavy head. It was nice to just have a normal round of golf.
I hope so (to shoot a low round in the weekend). Today could have been a really low one. If I can keep hitting it like this, I’m sure there is a low round in there.
You play courses like this, like Wack Wack (in Manila), you don’t see too many guys running away with it. I’m one over par, if I shoot seven or eight under over the weekend, I might have a great chance of winning.
CHOO TZE HUANG (SIN) – SECOND ROUND 72 (+1), TOTAL 139 (-3)
Very pleased. I’ve been struggling for a while now and it’s nice to be playing the way I’ve been playing. I’m chipping and putting well, scrambling it well. Every time I had a chance for birdie, I would make the putt.
It’s a tough course. I’m mentally much better to what I was before, I was very calm. I didn’t get too shaken after making a bogey or double. I just kept focusing on what I needed to.
I was happy to finish up my first round this morning with a 67. I made a couple of good putts coming in. I didn’t expect too much. I kept grinding it along. Happy with a 72 in the second round.
The goal will be the same this weekend. Just go out there and keep myself in play and give myself opportunities to make putts for birdies. It’s easy to make bogeys out here, with the wind and how the course is set up. Bogey is always on the cards on this course.
