#QueensCupGolf Round 2: What they said

 Prom Meesawat (Tha) – Second round 65 (-6), Total 135 (-7)
I didn’t know it was my best round here. I played good today, especially on the par threes where I was three under par. It was playing easier today as there was no wind and it was also preferred lie. So I just tried to put the ball on the fairway, that’s the key on this golf course.
If you hit more fairways, you put yourself in a good position. Try to make less mistakes as you can and try to hole some putts. Overall this week, I came here to relax with my family. My wife and baby girl are with me, so it’s quite relaxing and I feel comfortable here.
Four birdies in a row helps. On 14 (5th hole), it’s a tough par three, pin is way back and I holed a putt from the fringe which was about 30 feet. It was a good putt. Missed a couple of short ones though. Happy with two rounds so far.

It’s always special to win in your home country. I’ll be trying my best to do this. Next two days, I won’t change anything. A lot depends on the winds. If it picks up, it will play a lot differently. Right now I’ll stick to my game plan which is to hit the fairway first. On this course, the fewer mistakes you make, you’ll win. We’ve been lucky there’s been very little wind this week.
I’ve been using my driver only on a few occasions, twice on the front nine and about four times on the back nine, which is wider. It’s good for me as I like to hit more three woods off the tee.

It was a fun round, fun to play some good golf. That’s good. I just got into a good rhythm. Got it close to the flag and it was a matter of whether the putts roll in. It’s a good round.
Had a nice chat with my coach last night about some putting stuff. Yesterday, I felt like I was banging my head against the wall as nothing went in. But we had a nice chat about some things and the hole opened up. Hopefully we’ll have more of that this weekend. It made a huge difference.
I feel my game over the last few weeks is starting to come together. Some good ball striking rounds, just wasn’t quite sharp with the short game. The short game is starting to feel good again, starting to feel comfortable again. Confidence is coming back and it’s a fun place to be.
It’s a good golf course for me, I’m a pretty straight hitter of the golf ball and keeping it in play is the name of the game out here. A lot more fairways and greens and hopefully I’ll be in a good position come Sunday.
Had to play 3 holes this morning to finish the first round, so played 21 holes. We had some disruptions in Europe this year but we play 36 holes in college, so this is okay. It wans’t too bad, just was too early. 4am wake up call, nobody likes it.
Hit driver on 18, had 244 yards to the pin, ball a bit below, hit a three wood and hit it perfect into the middle of the green. Hole about a 30 footer for the eagle.

I’m very happy. This is my fourth time to Koh Samui and the last two times, I shot like 79 and 74 and I didn’t have good memories. But I always come here as I like the place and I like the country. This year, the first two rounds, I’ve played good, so I’m happy.
Before I came this time, I know this course is very tough and if you miss a shot, it can cost you a lot. So I said let’s just play and if you miss a shot, don’t care about it as you have other opportunities for birdies.
I was on the 16th tee yesterday and I was four under. Had one putt from one meter for birdie and made birdie but I couldn’t birdie on 18, still five under was good.
I’m happy I will have plenty of time to rest, I woke up very early, I was tired and I didn’t sleep that much. Now, I’ll have a good rest, good food and hopefully have a great weekend.
This year, I wasn’t on the top like the first eight events but last year, I was in this position a lot. I have to keep playing like that, keep playing the same like I’m doing and hopefully I will have a chance.

It’s always good to come back to this course. It’s the first event where I had my first top-five on the Asian Tour. I’ve been struggling actually, short-siding myself. Have been in places which I’ve never been to on this course but I’m putting good. The holes where I hit it good, I took my chances.
I’ve played here since I was 15, a lot of good memories here. Five years of playing here and it’s always nice to come back. It’s always a good feeling. This course, you need to stay calm and keep your patient.
Made a good birdie on the par three 15 hole, holed like a 30-footer for birdie.
