Bernd Wiesberger (Aut) – Third Round 62 (-9), Total 199 (-17)
Talk us through your round?
I started really well with five birdies in a row. I caught up with the leaders early which was good and finish off well. It was a great day for me. This is my European Tour record. I’ve never shot a 63.
Three good weeks and in contention again. What have you been doing right?
Maybe I shouldn’t tell! I’ve been working on the right things which are important for my game. I’ve improved on my putting a lot. I have changed to a different model and it has been working for me.  I also have the belief that I can play good golf now.
Alejandro caught up with you towards the end and it seems like a match play situation?
I had to catch him quickly. I had to get off to a good start and six birdies in seven holes were good to catch the lead. Alejandro played nicely and it was a good round.
I’m sure you are not discounting Lee Westwood?
Bernd Wiesberger of Austria Bernd Wiesberger of Austria
I’m not discounting anybody. There was a 62 out there and there’s probably going to be another 62 out there as well.
Feel good for the final round considering your results in the last few weeks?
It is going to be a similar feeling like the last couple of weeks. I had a fast start today and anybody can do that tomorrow. If I keep playing like this then I have a good chance to take this home. Tomorrow is another day and anything can happen. I’ll try and rest it up and give myself a chance on Sunday.
Alejandro Canizares (Ind) – Third Round 68 (-4), Total 201 (-15)
You must be pleased despite playing in humid tough conditions?
It was fun, playing alongside these guys is always fun. I made more mistakes than the previous days but I’m quite happy I made a two on 16 with a wedge. I got lucky but I got a bit unlucky on the last (for bogey). But that happens. Overall, I’m happy and pleased with the way I played. Hopefully tomorrow, I have the same fun.
Bernd started so well, but you came in strongly?
I was just paying attention to myself. It’s always good to play with someone who is playing good as he’s pulling you to make birdies as well. It was fun to watch, he played great. He kept me going and kept me pushing. It was fun.
16 must have been fun as well?
Yes, it was a great shot. Luckily it went in. One of those things that can happen. I had 110 yards and hit a soft 52 wedge.
What do you need to do tomorrow?
All I can do is do my best and try to have fun. If I have fun I would have succeeded. That’s my goal tomorrow. If not, I’ll still be good tomorrow.
Lee Westwood (Eng) – Third Round 69 (-3), Total 202 (-14)
Q: That was a pretty tidy finish.
A: Yeah, I didn’t play particularly well today, so I was pleased to shoot 69, which keeps me in the hunt.
Q: It was important that you got those birdies at the end, wasn’t it?
A: Very important. I couldn’t feel my hip action today, especially early on. But I only made one bogey, and I made some crucial birdies on 17 and 18. If I don’t make them I’m looking at probably being five shots back, so it was nice to finish with a bit of momentum.
Lee Westwood of England Lee Westwood of England
Q: It might not be an easy answer, but why couldn’t you feel your hip action?
A: It’s not an easy answer. I’ll be going to the range now to work on the usual stuff and try to get it back.
Q: Just the nature of golf sometimes, isn’t it?
A: Yes. Maybe I just got out of bed the wrong side. Or had the wrong song in my head.
Q: What are your thoughts when your playing partner birdies the first five and you’re unable to get amongst it?
A: Well you can get into a false mind-set, where you convince yourself that you’re not playing very well, when it’s just that he’s had a great start and is hitting it close. Both of them birdied the first two holes, so two pars felt like it was a bit slow. I missed from six feet on the first and had a decent chance at the second, so you’ve just got to be patient. I’ve been in this position often enough so it’s the old adage of playing your own game and taking it one shot at a time.
Q: What are your thoughts into Sunday?
A: The way I played it could’ve been a lot worse. I could’ve easily shot over par today, so I’m pleased to have shot 69.
Q: At the end of last year you were pleased with the way you rallied in Thailand?
A: Yeah, I shot a good last round in Thailand just before Christmas so I’ll need one of those or maybe even lower tomorrow, but you just don’t know. Sometimes it’s difficult to follow up a very low round with another one.
Paul Waring (Eng) – Third Round 65(-7), Total 202 (-14)
Wonderful round?
Obviously I’m very happy. Started like a train. Gave myself a lot of good chances early on and could have been really deep in the first five holes. I had an eagle chance on five which I missed as well but dropped bogey on six and lost momentum at that stage. Nice to roll one in for two on 14 and finished with three birdies which is a great way to finish.
You’ve had eagles, 3, 2 and 1 this week. It’s quite an achievement?
It’s been a good week. I’ve been hitting a lot of close iron shots and giving myself lots of chances. Just hope to carry on attacking flags tomorrows and see how we go.
Are you pleased with the bounce back ability as well, especially in this heat?
I felt a bit wobbly and made some stupid mistakes. I kind of put it down to that rather than me putting in bad swings. I made sure the hydration was good in the last few holes and started to get back on top of my game and started hitting at flags again. Obviously nice to finish strongly after the wobble.
Tell us about 18?
You’re always tempted to bite quite a lot off the tee. It’s quite hard to get on the fairway and you can’t really get it on in two. I hit a strong three wood off the tee and still had 320 to the front edge. I was never going to take it on. I laid up and had a nice nine iron in to five feet and rolled in it. It was more the fact that I got it inside 150 yards which is the strong point at the moment.
When was the last time you felt this good with your game?
I’ve felt good for a while the last few weeks. I’ve hit a few loose ones as I was probably rusty from not playing the last few months. The swing feels good, the putting feels good. Just looking back at Portugal the last few years, got two in front going into the last day and got a bit done by the draw as the wind picked up and someone posted a low one early on and I couldn’t do much about it. Hopefully tomorrow, I’ll be in amongst it again and see what happens tomorrow.

Paul Peterson (USA) – Third Round 64 (-8), Total 205(-11)
How does this compare with some of your best ever rounds?
It’s right there at the top. I shot 64 a couple of weeks ago in the US but it was not at this level. This is pretty cool, pretty special today.
It was hard work with the humidity?
It’s unbelievable how much different coming from the dry desert. It’s tough with the humidity out here. But last year being on the Asian Tour, I’ve kind of got used to it. It feels good to sweat. You’re never tight in the morning, that’s for sure.
In control today?
Definitely/ My caddie has been great, giving me good numbers and making me feel comfortable. Looking forward to tomorrow. I’m really excited with the position I’m in. As a young player, you have nothing but things to learn tomorrow. It’s nice to be the guy in the background, you just go out and do your business. But I feel confident with my game. I have a lot of belief with what I’m doing right now. I’m not as surprised as some might be that I’m in contention.
Seems like a long way from back home to be playing in Asia?
It’s been a great experience for me. I had the chance to play with some excellent players last year. I played with Martin Kaymer in the Thailand Golf Championship which was a good learning experience. There more I get a chance to play with good players, the better I will get.
You know, it was the right place and right time to do the Asian Tour Qualifying School. It’s been great. I think the game of golf is just global now, the more you can get these experience, travel and see the world, and when you do it at a young age, the better.
Anirban Lahiri (Ind) – Third Round 62 (-10), Total 204 (-12)
Tell us how this compares with your best ever rounds?
It’s right up there. I played rock solid today. I cam out and put less pressure on myself. Last two days, I haven’t played much differerent what I’ve done today but I tried too hard. It was fantastic that I just let it go and just played.
You got out of the blocks flying?
Anirban Lahiri of India Anirban Lahiri of India

It’s nice. I’ve been hitting it good and it’s nice to make those eight to 10 birdies. That’s not been consistent and hopefully today is the start of better things to come. I tried to reduce the amount of importance that I was attaching to the result. Last couple of days, I was trying too hard to make birdies, trying to make a move. Like I said, I just let go. When I saw a line, I just hit it on the line and took it on merit whether it went in or missed. I’m happy. I’ve been playing well. The last two weeks was tough to not be out here. I’m trying to make every opportunity count. I’m happy to be a in good position after today.
Did you think that you would be in this position at the start of the morning?
I absolutely did. I knew I was playing well. I knew I had the opportunity to make a move. Start of the day, I would have backed myself to get close to 10-under, not quite so close or  past it rather. I’m quite happy.
Not your typical day in the office?
It was awesome. Started off on a positive move like the last couple of days and I kept the momentum going. I was really relaxed on the golf course, didn’t really care much on what was happening on the leaderboard. It was nice to go out there to play with freedom and that’s what I’ll try to do that tomorrow.
This must change everything heading into the final round?
It changes the situation in terms of where I stand. But in terms of what I need to do, it’ll be the same thing. I’ve been hitting a lot of fairways which is what you need on this course. I think the hall mark today was that I stayed bogey free. The first two days, I made 11 birdies and dropped nine shots. I went back yesterday thinking that I’m just making too many mistakes, probably because I’m trying too hard and I just came out here today just relaxed a little bit and I just enjoyed it.
Thoughts about tomorrow?
Tomorrow is a brand new day and today was a very special day. I’ll have to keep trying to keep the ball on the fairways and giving myself opportunities. I putted well today and that’s what I’ll need to do again tomorrow. If I go out and have a good putting day tomorrow, it could be mine.
Chasing a first co-sanctioned victory must be exciting?
The fact that I’m a European Tour member makes it quite significant. I’m looking to go out there and play well tomorrow. I feel like I’m playing really well and that’s really important as I feel positive. I feel I can go out there and shoot a good number tomorrow. You don’t know what will happen. I’ll try to stay relaxed and stay positive and do the simple things right.
Where I stand with my current status, I would get into mostly everything in Europe. Having said that, I had made up my mind to play my minimum on the Asian Tour. I’m committed to play a few in Asia aside from the co-sanctioned events. I’ll definitely be back.
Danny Chia (Mas) – Third Round 69 (-3), Total 210 (-6)
Better day?
I start to putt better after getting some advice from my coach. I think that was the difference today.
What advice did he give you?
He told me to be more committed to the line that I pick. On the second day I didn’t have the confidence with my lines and I didn’t make good strokes with my putter.
Talk us through your round?
I made two silly mistakes. One was probably on the 16th hole. I was in between clubs and I hit it too soft and pushed it right into the rough. On number 12, I took a bad choice of clubs and hit it over the green.
Must be feeling about your game?
I wish I could be better. Every day I just go out there and try to shoot under-par. Hopefully I can get better day by day.
Have you lost distance off the tees after your injury?
Yeah, I lost about 15 yards off the tees but I’m more accurate now. My game is not the same anymore. It is different from before.
Will a top-10 finish be a proud result?
Definitely. A good round tomorrow and that goal will be possible.
Do you have to see a physiotherapist around your rounds?
Not during a tournament but I do a lot of rehab during the off season. I want to gain back my strength in my shoulder. It is very hard to say how far I’m from being 100% healed. I don’t have high hopes to recover fully. I’m okay at the moment. As long as I know my limit, I should be okay. When I play four or five events then I will take a rest. I can’t keep going like what I used to do.
