Reflections of 2014 with Nicholas Fung

January 16: Malaysia’s Nicholas Fung enjoyed a memorable 2014 campaign which included an appearance at the inaugural EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM. Asiantour.com talks to him as he reflects on the past 12 months.
Happy with your season in 2014?
Yes, definitely. I played well and missed only four cuts. Everything was good for me.
What was the main highlight?
I think it was the EurAsia Cup for sure. I played with all the big players from Europe and Asia and enjoyed the experience. I learned a lot from that week.
What do you hope to do better in 2015?
My aim will be to win an Asian Tour event. It’s not easy but I’m going to try my hardest.
How will you spend your off-season?
I was home for Christmas and then went to Hong Kong and Macau with my family for a short holiday which was good.
Any Christmas gifts for yourself?
I recently bought myself a new Rolex watch.
Who in your mind was the star of 2014?
Cameron Smith certainly had a great year as a rookie and then David Lipsky also won in Switzerland which helped him win the Order of Merit. Anirban Lahiri also played well by winning twice and earning his European Tour card. There were a few stars.
Who do you think will shine in 2015?
I think Angelo Que will have a big year. I also think my countryman Danny Chia will shine as he’s been playing good since recovering from injury.
