January 23: India’s Rashid Khan enjoyed a stunning 2014 campaign by winning twice on the Asian Tour and finishing top-10 on the Order of Merit. Asiantour.com catches up with the young Indian as he reflects on last season’s success. This is the last segment of our Reflections series.
You must be happy with 2014?
I’m really happy with the season. I won two tournaments and I’m now a multiple winner which feels great.
What was the main highlight?
Winning the Chiangmai Golf Classic presented by PTT felt really good as it was against a strong field; although winning the SAIL-SBI Open on my home course was also very special in its own right.
Any regrets?
I’m really enjoying myself on the Asian Tour, so none whatsoever.
What do you hope to achieve in 2015?
I would like to win more tournaments again like what I did in 2014. Maybe win three tournaments!
How will you spend your off-season?
I’ll be going out with my friends. We’ve not decided where we’ll be going. We’ll see wherever they take me.
Any Christmas gifts for yourself?
Not yet. Maybe I’ll get myself a Rolex.
Who was the star of 2014?
Anirban Lahiri as he played a solid season. Although he was chasing David Lipsky in the Order of Merit race, he was always on the leaderboard at every tournament.
Who should we watch out for in 2015?
Rashid Khan (laughter)
