Kuala Lumpur, March 26: Siddikur Rahman believes he will form a formidable partnership with Thai veteran Prayad Marksaeng when they take on Victor Dubuisson and Joost Luiten in the first day’s fourball matches at the EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM on Thursday.
The popular Bangladeshi was excited with his pairing with Team Asia’s funny man and eight-time Asian Tour winner, Prayad at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club Garden course.
“I feel proud that I can represent Team Asia. I’m also very happy because I’m playing with Prayad Marksaeng. I’ve played with him on a couple of occasions and he is a friend of mine. I’m very confident with this combination. I think both of us and Team Asia are very strong,” said Siddikur.
“Team Asia is in a very positive mood. We really have good strength in the team. Thongchai (Jaidee) is truly an inspiration to us. He has won so many tournaments and his experience will help us. Prayad is a very funny guy so it will be a fun day!”
Siddikur is the first Bangladeshi to play and win on the Asian Tour and he will be shooting for more glory when he represents the continent against Team Europe, in what is expected to be a high octane battle.
“Our game combines very well. I’m a consistent player and Prayad is a long hitter and aggressive player. I played two practice rounds and this course really suits my eye,” said the two-time Asian Tour winner.

Prayad is confident Team Asia can prevail against the odds and tipped his playing partner Siddikur to shine at the Garden Course.
“I talked to Siddikur in the Philippines and I told him that this golf course suits him. I’m very happy with this pairing. My game is in good shape and I feel confident. Team Europe has a good team but this course suits our team more. I’m confident we can win,” said the 48-year-old Prayad.
The EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM is sanctioned by the Asian Tour and European Tour. Professional Golf Malaysia (PGM) will act as the local facilitator for the event.
