April 4: Siddikur Rahman won the inaugural BIT Open at the Kurmitola Golf Club after defeating countryman Sajib Ali on the first play-off hole last week.
The two-time Asian Tour winner tied with Sajib on 15-under-par 273 before winning the event, which was sanctioned by the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) and Bangladesh Professional Golfers’ Association (BPGA), with a birdie against a par in extra time.
The 31-year-old golfer told the Daily Star he was relieved to win at his home course.
Siddikur Rahman“Feeling really delighted to win on home soil and winning a very important title after a long time. Everyone knows I struggled a bit during this time due to injury and lack of confidence. This was a big challenge for me and the field was not that easy either. So hopefully this win will augur well for me in international circuit in future,” said Siddikur.
In the Philippines, veteran Antonio Lascuna fired a five-under-par 67 to win the ICTSI Luisita Championship.
“My putting was pretty good and it was the key to my victory,” said Lascuna, an Asian Tour regular.
