October 9: Newly installed EurAsia Cup captain Jeev Milkha Singh and Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat fired matching four-under-par 67s for tied 12th position at the British Masters presented by Sky Sports at Woburn on Thursday.
Singh, a double Asian Tour number one, produced seven birdies on the card against three dropped shots while big-hitting Kiradech, who has already won twice on the European Tour this season, sank five birdies against a lone bogey.
Asian Tour member Marcus Fraser shot a fine 66 to trail first round leader Matt Fitzpatrick of England in the European Tour event while countryman Wade Orsmby, who is a one-time winner on the Asian Tour, carded a 68 as with Sweden’s Rikard Karlberg, the recent winner of the Italian Open.
Singh will captain Team Asia in the second edition of the EurAsia Cup presented DRB-HICOM next January against Europe. The first match ended in a thrilling 10-10 tie.
