May 31: Asian Tour honorary member Jeev Milkha Singh of India missed out on a place in the US Open after he fell out of contention in a play-off at the International Sectional Qualifier at Walton Heath.
The six-time Asian Tour winner, who also holds multiple wins in Europe and Japan, was involved in a five-man play-off to determine the final three qualifiers to the year's second Major which will be held at the Oakmont Country Club from June 16-19.
Germany's Max Kieffer was first to secure his spot after he holed out from the bunker on the first hole. Denmark's Soren Hansen then birdied the second play-off hole to clinch his ticket after Sweden's Johan Edfors’ bogey had dropped him out of the running.
Singh and Sweden's Sebastian Soderberg were then left to battle for the last coveted spot and after two more holes, Singh was eventually elimainated when Soderberg prevailed with a birdie on the  fourth play-off hole.
Ends.
