October 29: Tour rookie Cameron Smith of Australia talks about a great debut season on the Asian Tour and playing in the CIMB Classic this week.

I’m pretty excited. It is a good week but I’m trying to treat it like any other week. I’m just excited and can’t wait to go out there.
It is easier said than done because the PGA TOUR is the biggest Tour in the world so to get an opportunity to play with them is really good. It was one of my goals at the start of the year to qualify for the CIMB Classic.
I was optimistic at the start of the year but it would really become a realistic goal when the season progressed and I played better and better. To be here and to be playing is really exciting for me.
The four-week stretch when I played through the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship (TPC) until the Mercuries Taiwan Masters really helped me out. That was sort of make or break for me to qualify for the event. I’m really grateful I can qualify for this event through the Asian Tour.
To be honest, I wasn’t really expecting too much when I earned my Asian Tour card. I just wanted to come out here and see what I can do.
This is my first time playing here and it is really nice and a good championship golf course. I think we will see a low number at the end of the week. You have to keep your ball on the fairway and take most of your chances when you are on the green.
Ends.
