Southport, England, July 23: Jordan Spieth of the United States claimed a convincing victory at The Open on Sunday after defeating countryman Matt Kuchar by three shots.
The American got off to a shaky start and it got worst on the 13th hole when he hit his tee shot way right into the crowd before taking an unplayable lie. He played his third from the practice area and somehow dropped only one shot.
The bogey sparked an amazing charge for Spieth, who produced a stunning birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie run to eventually win The Open with a final round one-under-par 69 and a winning total of 12-under-par 268.

After winning The Masters and U.S. Open in 2015, the American is now a step closer to a career grand slam.
“It's incredible,” said Spieth. “This is one of the most sought after trophies in the world and the most sought after in our sport and to be able to have my name on it and already see that is a dream come true. My last goal now is to try and complete a career grand slam.
“Somehow it came from an errant drive, a crazy drop and a bogey to get me going. After that one went in I stuffed a six iron at the next hole and that putt went in. I was uncomfortable on the greens and all of a sudden I couldn't miss.
“Tremendous mental strength to be able to come back and finish that way with a couple of good breaks and Matt got a couple of bad breaks as well. I don't know how I shot one under today,” added Spieth.
Ends.
