Stars to watch in 2017: Pavit Tangkamolprasert

Sentosa, Singapore, January 13:

Pavit Tangkamolprasert’s remarkable rise through the ranks was one of the most successful stories ever written on the Asian Tour last season.

It only took him six events on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) before he claimed his first title at the 2013 season-ending event in Jakarta.

Pavit then went on to cap off a stellar season in 2014 by bagging a trio of titles in less than three months to earn an immediate graduation onto the Asian Tour in October. His ADT Order of Merit win in December put the icing on the cake for his 2014 season.

The 27-year-old Thai endured a slow season in 2015 but came back stronger than ever in 2016, securing his fifth ADT victory in March to tie the record with Chinese Taipei’s Chan Shih-chang.

He finally claimed his breakthrough on the Asian Tour at the Venetian Macao Open in October after defeating Indian star Anirban Lahiri in a play-off, fulfilling the potential he had shown on the second tier ranks over the past few years.
Pavit sweetened his season with two other top-10 results in Thailand and Indonesia to finish in a career-high 10th place on the 2016 Asian Tour Order of Merit with a season’s haul of US$243,408.

Will Pavit continue his ascent in 2017? We think so and believe you do too.
