December 17: Scott Hend proves that big drives are not only for show as his long-hitting game has been the main essence to a successful season where he won three Asian Tour titles.
The powerful Australian has been dominant in the Driving Distance category for most of the season where he leads with average drives of 315 yards. He is very likely to win the award again for the fourth time in his career unless Lee Sung of Korea (313 yards) can overtake him. Steve Lewton of England is third with 307 yards.
Brazil’s Adilson Da Silva is presently the straightest driver as he heads the Fairways Hit category with an accuracy of 77.33%. He leads from Lee Sung of Korea (76.63%) and Chris Rodgers of England (76.18%).
Kiradech Aphibarnrat of Thailand has also enjoyed a fruitful season because of his sharp-shooting game where he leads the Asian Tour Stroke Average Category.
The current Order of Merit leader leads on the rankings with 69.88 strokes per round, ahead of Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand (70.17) and Anirban Lahiri (70.35) of India.
Meanwhile Jbe Kruger of South Africa is ahead in the Greens in Regulation category with a strike rate of 76.44%. Thongchai, a three-time Order of Merit winner, is hot on his heels in second place on 75.24% followed by Jyoti Randhawa of India on 73.28%.
In the Putting Average category, Thai veteran Thammanoon Sriroj currently wields the hottest putter on the Asian Tour as he leads in the group with an average of 27.57 putts per round.
Prayad Marksaeng of Thailand and Siddikur Rahman of Bangladesh are in second and third place respectively with average putts of 27.58 and 27.66 per round.
It will be a tight race in the Birdies Category as Anirban Lahiri leads with a total of 271 birdies, a mere two birdies ahead of second placed Siddikur. Chapchai Nirat of Thailand sits in third position after notching 266 birdies.
The winners in the respective categories will be awarded during the Asian Tour Awards Night.
