Macau, October 21: Filipino Miguel Tabuena is looking forward to his third appearance at the Venetian Macau Open. This is his blog from Macau.

It’s good to be back at the Venetian Macau Open as I did not play here last year. I would say that the Macau Golf and Country Club fits my eye as I’m not a long hitter and I like to keep it on the fairway. I’ve been playing well the past few months and I think I’ve already kept my card on the Asian Tour (where he is currently ranked 24th on the Order of Merit). It’ll be nice to go into this week knowing that my 2015 card has been secured and it’ll be a bonus for me to play well this week.
I guess with the knowledge of having my card locked in, it’ll loosen my swing somewhat and make me go for pins which I normally won’t go for. It probably will make me more aggressive on the course. It’s really nice to know that I have nothing to worry about by the time the year comes to an end.
It’s a good sign that the Venetian Macau Open has become bigger through the years. I want to thank the sponsors for their support and for growing the tournament. We’re thankful that we can play in a tournament like this and on a great course like this one.
I have been fine-tuning my game in general in the past week. I’m playing well. I just want to keep the same routine since the start of the year. I think I’ve been on tour for four years now and I’ve played most of the courses a few times, which helps. I know the golf courses better which helps me perform.
The Yeangder Tournament Players Championship (where he lost in a play-off) had a good field and I told myself that if I could play well in a field like that and in such windy conditions there, I can also put up a good showing here. I want to try to finish in the top-20 of the Order of Merit by the end of the year.
Obviously, you want to win this week, but you can’t win the tournament on the first day. Golf is a marathon and you have to pace yourself. Once you get to the third day, we want to move up the leaderboard. I guess I’ll take it one shot at a time.
This is my third time playing in the Venetian Macau Open and they say third time is a charm. Hopefully I play well.
