#Taiwan_Masters Rd 4 What They Said

Lu Wei-chih (Tpe) – Final Round 70 (-2), Total 283 (-5)

You can’t take anything for granted on this golf course. I only felt I had a chance to win after I made par on 17. I had a good birdie on 16 and that gave me a chance to fight for the title.

On the last tee box, I led by two shots and was on the green in two shots. Unfortunately I three putted because I was so nervous. It has been a long time since I’ve had this feeling.

It means a lot to me to win this tournament. After the surgery, I thought I couldn’t play golf anymore so to be a winner again is amazing.

After the surgery I took things slowly. I started step by step. Can you imagine, after the surgery, the doctor said I couldn’t even sneeze! So I took things slow. I started by hitting 100 balls and after that, I blanked out. It was so tired. At that time I thought I couldn’t play golf anymore.

But my family pushed me. My wife, my father and my mother kept pushing me and kept motivating me to keep fighting. I’m here today because of them. The victory is for them as well. I’m blessed to have them in my life.

At the start of the day, I was not focussed at all. I had two bogeys in five holes and my caddy told me that something is wrong with me. He said I wasn’t in the ‘zone’. I started to kick myself from there and played much better golf.

Miguel Tabuena (Phi) – Final Round 70 (-2), Total 284 (-4)

I don’t know what it is with me and Chinese Taipei. I like courses where everybody has a chance to win. I’m still happy with my performance this week considering I didn’t have a practice round because of the typhoon.

I knew I was playing well and Lu Wei-chih deserves to win. He is a solid player and to get past the brain surgery shows that when you are down, you can get back up if you work hard. I’m glad he won.

It is showing good signs in my game. I have one more week to seal my spot in the HSBC-WGC Champions in China. I’ve done well in Jakarta so I’m really looking forward to the tournament.

Danthai Boonma (Tha) – Final Round 71 (-1), Total 285 (-3)

I played very good. I get lucky on hole number nine when my second shot landed in the cup for eagle. I’m a bit disappointed with my finish (3 bogeys). I didn’t feel nervous. I actually felt good. I was a bit tired because I had to speed up play on the first nine.

Eagle: Nine iron 152 yards to the hole.
