March 26: Japan's Hideto Tanihara will take on World number one Dustin Johnson after he defeated England's Ross Fisher 4 and 2 in the quarter finals of the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play on Saturday.
Tanihara will become the first player from Japan to reach the semifinals since Toru Taniguchi in 2001 after his convincing victory against the Englishman at the Austin Country Club.
The match between Tanihara and Fisher was all square through five holes. Tanihara's birdie on the par-5 sixth then marked the start of a four-hole winning stretch for him.
By the time the Japanese made the turn, he was 4 up and in command. Tanihara's birdie on 13 saw him go 5-up and he would go on to win the match despite Fisher's late birdie rally on 14 and 15.
Earlier in the day, the Japanese had produced another upset when he took out another Englishman Paul Casey  2 and 1 .
"My shot has been good this whole week. I knew it would come down to the putting. The putting was pretty good, so I'm happy," said Tanihara who now has the chance to become the second player from his homeland to win a WGC event behind Hideki Matsuyama.
