January 18: Three-time Asian Tour Order of Merit winner Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand stayed within sights of the leaders when he posted another two-under-par 72 to take a share of 13th place at the HSBC Abu Dhabi  Golf Championship on Friday.
Five-time Asian Tour winner Gaganjeet Bhullar of India continued his resurgence by hauling himself back into contention with a 68 to share 13th place alongside Thongchai, who will captain Team Asia at the inaugural EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM set to tee off in Malaysia in March.
The duo will head into the weekend rounds, five shots back of Scotland’s Craig Lee and Spain’s Rafa Cabrera-Bello after compiling a  two-day total of four-under-par 140 at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
Australia’s Wade Ormsby, a winner on the Asian Tour, slipped to a share of 43rd place with India’s Shiv Kapur on 143.
Six-time Asian Tour winner Jeev Milkha Singh of India could not repeat his opening day form as he struggled to a 75 to fall off the pace, taking a share of 60th place.
The Asian Tour honorary member began his campaign with a solid 69.
