Shanghai, November 13: Thai star Thongchai Jaidee fired a four-under-par 68 to stay three shots back of leader Lucas Bjerregaard of Denmark in tied-second place at the halfway stage of the BMW Masters on Friday.
The 46-year-old Thai marked his card with six birdies against two bogeys to match the efforts of overnight leader Sergio Garcia of Spain, who carded a 71, on nine-under-par 135 total at the Lake Malaren Golf Club.
China’s Liang Wen-chong signed for a 71 to tie in 28th position on 141 while Australian Scott Hend returned with a 73 to sit a further shot back in tied-35th place at the BMW Masters.
Rikarg Karlberg (73) of Sweden and Thai hotshot Kiradech Aphibarnrat (74) are tied on 44th and 61st place respectively.
“I’ve played solid the last two days. I hit 17 greens today, the only miss was on the last hole, where I made bogey. I hit some very good iron shots and also some good tee shots, plus my putting was solid, especially on the back nine.
“It was a very good day, especially because the course was playing very tough today,” said Thongchai, who holds an unprecedented three Order of Merit crowns and 13 Asian Tour victories.
