March 9: Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand fired a two-over-par 74 in the third round of the WGC-Cadillac Championship to lie in tied 28th position on Saturday.
The three-time Asian Tour Order of Merit winner will need a huge lift in the final round for a strong finish that will likely earn him enough Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points to break into the top-50 in the world. He is currently 53rd in the OWGR.
Thongchai, the Captain for Team Asia for the EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM in Malaysia later this month, was tied with the big-hitting Scott Hend (73) of Australia, who qualified for the event after finishing second on the Order of Merit.
Meanwhile Kiradech Aphibarnrat, the reigning Order of Merit champion, shot a 79 to sit in 66th position at the Trump National Doral course where Patrick Reed of the United States holds a two-shot lead over Jason Dufner.
Ends.
