June 21: Thongchai Jaidee shot a six-under-par 66 for tied ninth place after the opening round of the BMW International Open in Munich on Thursday.
The three-time Asian Tour number one recorded eight birdies against two bogeys to lie three shots behind leader Ernie Els of South Africa.
It was a perfect response for the Thai star who had missed the halfway cut at the US Open last week. Thongchai has been in good form this season, with his latest highlight being a runner-up finish at the Volvo World Match Play Championship in Bulgaria last month.
India’s Shiv Kapur also opened his campaign in the European Tour event with a solid 69.
