September 2: It looks like Thongchai Jaidee will now have to depend on a captain's pick if he is to feature in the Presidents Cup next month.
The Asian Tour star finished tied 26th in his defence of the ISPS Handa Wales Open on Sunday, closing with a two-under-par 69 and a two-over-par 286 total at the Celtic Manor Resort. He ended the tournament some 10 shots behind winner Gregory Bourdy of France.
Thongchai needed a strong finish to improve on his current 12th position on the International Team rankings. The top-10 players as of September 2 will earn automatic slots in the team while captain Nick Price will announce his two wild card selections on Wednesday.
India's S.S.P. Chowrasia closed with a 70 finish in tied 31st position in Wales.
