July 6: Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee stepped up his chase of lifting his second victory on European soil in two months when he fired a two-under-par 69 to remain firmly in the hunt at the Alstom Open de France on Saturday.
The EurAsia Cup captain, who is also a three-time Asian Tour Order of Merit winner, trails American leader Kevin Stadler by four shots in tied-second place heading into the final 18 holes.
“The key for this week is my putting. I’ve been putting very well. My score would have been better if not for a bogey on the last hole. I’m in a good chance and it’ll be an interesting round tomorrow,” said Thongchai who marked his card with four birdies and two bogeys for a three-day total of five-under-par 208.
Reigning Asian Tour Order of Merit winner, Kirachech Aphibarnrat, made his move with a 70 to take a share of 12th place while India’s Shiv Kapur struggled to a 76 that left him tied for 50th place.
