May 18: Three-time Asian Tour Order of Merit winner, Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand breezed into the last 16 of Volvo World Match Play Championship by defeating South African Thomas Aiken by one hole on Friday.
It was the Thongchai’s second straight victory after he had defeat England's Ian Poulter on the opening day of his campaign in Bulgaria.
"I am very happy with two wins and right now I am performing a lot better as the tournament goes on as match-play is not easy," said Thongchai who has won 13 times on the region’s premier Tour.
"My match with Richard was very even but I went 1-up on 17 before we both pared the 18th for me to win. It was a very solid round of golf with five birdies after having seven yesterday, so I am going to hit a few practice balls this afternoon and then get ready for tomorrow's match," added Thongchai.
Compatriot and current Order of Merit leader Kiradech Aphibarnrat suffered contrasting fortune as he made his early exit after losing 3 and 2 to Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts and finished his match with South African Branden Grace all square.
