Manila April 12: The Wack Wack Golf and Country Club the venue for this week’s Solaire Open bared its teeth once again as only 10 players broke par during the second round morning action on Friday.
The tough scoring conditions were testament to the challenging tree-lined Wack Wack East Course which is notorious for its tight fairways and sleek greens.
Among the 10 players to shoot under-par was Thai veteran Thammanoon, a five-time Asian Tour winner, who bounced back from his opening 73 with a three-under-par 69 at the inaugural US$300,000 full field Asian Tour event.
He was tied with countryman Kwanchai Tannin, who returned with a 71, on two-under-par 142 but is currently four shots from overnight leader Dodge Kemmer of the United States, who tees off in the afternoon.
“It is very tough out there but I managed to hold on. I’m happy with how I played after yesterday’s round. It is always easier to play when there’s not so much wind here,” said the 43-year-old Thammanoon.
