Kuala Lumpur, February 17: Korean rising star Jeunghun Wang is all set for the inaugural Maybank Championship Malaysia which starts on Thursday. The youngster has put in a new putter in the bag and hopes that it will snare the birdies. This is his blog from Royal Selangor Golf Club.

This is a golf tough course, it’s hard to read the greens. The fairways are narrow and there are a lot of trees. The course is in perfect condition though but you’ve got to be on top of your game to score.
I only made one birdie in the pro am today. The key will be the tee shots. Once you are in position, you can have a chance to make birdies. I think you can make a score out here but you need to avoid the bushes and trees which you can make big numbers.
My game is feeling good. I just changed my putter this week after struggling in Myanmar. I played well there but I couldn’t putt. I want to try with a new one this week although like I said, I only had one birdie today. Will keep trying!
I learned a lot at the EurAsia Cup (last month). They were all good players and it gave me a lot of confidence. I used to think the top players are really good but they’re actually not and we’re not far behind. I’m less nervous these days and hopefully I will continue to play well.
I really want to win on the Asian Tour. This week would be good as it’s a big tournament but we’ve got a good field this week. I think I’m pretty close to winning on the Asian Tour but for a win in co-sanctioned event, it may be a bit harder although I’ve got more confidence now in my ability. Wish me luck.
