Watch Out For Perera

Yangon, Myanmar, February 23: Mithun Perera reaffirmed his growing potential on the Asian Tour when he shot a third round five-under-par 67 at the Zaykabar Myanmar Open presented by Alpine on Saturday.
The Sri Lankan totalled 10-under-par 206 to give himself a fighting chance to snatch his first ever Asian Tour title at the US$300,000 event at the Royal Mingalardon Golf and Country Club.
“It is good compared to the last two rounds. My game is improving and it is nice to be closer to the lead. At least I have a chance on the final day. It is a good thing. It is great to be under-par for three days in the first Asian Tour event of the year,” said the 26-year-old.
“It was tough when I started early in the morning because the wind was blowing today. It wasn’t easy when I was playing against the wind. It was a new thing playing in these conditions. I can say it was very difficult out there.”
Perera finished second in last year’s ISPS Handa Singapore Classic which gave him a much needed boost on the Order of Merit where he eventually ended the year in 50th place to earn an Asian Tour card for 2013.
Since then, his confidence has been soaring and he has set his sights on winning at least one Asian Tour tournament in the new 2013 season.
“My target is to win at least one event this year. That’s my goal for the year. I believe I can achieve that because one good week can change your entire life. I’ve been playing really good so hopefully I can do well every week,” said Perera.
