Crans Montana, Switzerland, June 21: Bernd Wiesberger of Austria will return to one of his favourite hunting grounds for his sixth appearance in the prestigious Omega European Masters held in Crans Montana this September.
The 31-year-old Wiesberger, who became the first man to sink nine consecutive birdies on the Asian Tour in Malaysia in February, will be challenging for a fifth European Tour victory and a second one this season at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club from September 7 to 10.
Apart from winning the Shenzhen International in China in April, Bernd has secured a total of nine top-five finishes over the last nine months, including a runner-up finish at the British Masters which was won by Alex Noren of Sweden.
Wiesberger enjoyed his best result at the Omega European Masters in 2012 where he came in sixth. He claimed his first two titles on the European Tour the same year, one at the Lyoness Open in his home country Austria and the other one at the Ballantine’s Championship in Korea. He triumphed again at the French Open in 2015.
Wiesberger is looking forward to return to Crans Montana, a mountainous environment which appeals to him greatly due to his passion for skiing, and hoping to deliver his best performance for a fifth title on the European Tour.
