Singapore, November 13: Read what players have to say following the second round of the World Classic Championship at Laguna National.
Berry Henson (Usa) - Second round 70 (-1), Total 140 (-2)
I had a good little two-putt to start my morning and I made a nice birdie on 15. Actually I had a few more opportunities coming in. I was able to make one of them and one lipped out on the last. I’m starting to get really comfortable with the course. This is the kind of week that sets up really well for me. The turf conditions are exactly what I like out of the fairways and I’m feeling very comfortable and looking to make quite a few birdies this afternoon. The play suspension helped me because  on my 13th hole yesterday, my caddie and I had the wrong yardage and we done that a couple of times the last few weeks. I hit a few good shots and it was the wrong number. That kind of upset me a little bit. I hit a bad shot on 14 and then the horn blew. So in some sense, that helped to calm me down and I woke up this morning with a fresher mind and knew I was in a good position.
Scott Barr (Aus) – Second round 71 (even par), Total 142 (-2)
I didn’t hole as many putts for birdies as I did yesterday but I didn’t make too many mistakes out there. I just couldn’t get it close enough to make the putts. You won’t want to make a big mistake out there. That would end up in big numbers. If you’re in trouble, just try to make a bogey. You just play for a bogey and not try to risk it. I did that a few times today and it paid off. You need to drive the ball well and hit good iron shots. It’s basically a full test of everything. It’s lovely to be in a good position heading into the weekend rounds. I just want to keep playing the way I have been playing and hopefully get a few more putts to roll. I just want to keep trusting what’s happening and stick to my game. It’s still a long way to go. You need to stay patient out there. You just need a bad hole to blow the whole week up. I just want to put the ball in play and take it from there. We will see how it goes.
Nicholas Fung (Mas) – Second round 67 (-4), Total 143 (-1)
It’s fantastic to shoot a 67 on this course. I have no complaints even though I missed a couple of short putts. I hit the ball really good today. I only missed one fairway. I have played this course before so I guess it’s a bit of an advantage for me. For some holes out there, making bogey is actually very good already. You just have to try not to make anything worse than that and you should be safe. I think there are maybe about four holes that you can take advantage of for birdies. I thought the pin placements were easier today, compared to yesterday.
Jazz Janewattananond (Tha) – Second round 71 (even par), Total 142 (even par)
I started off from the back nine and I was four-over par after six holes. To be able to fight back to even par on this kind of golf course is just brilliant. I am very happy with how I played. It showed that I am learning in my game. When I stumbled at the start, I didn’t get angry. I thought everyone out there is going to play the same. It’s just that my bogeys came earlier. I told myself I need to make a comeback on my back nine which I did. It’s really important to stay patient out there. If I were to lose my head after that setback, I would have finished worse than this. This course is very different. You can hit a good shot but end up bad. You have to let it go with the flow. You can’t be aggressive on this golf course. You can maybe be aggressive on the putting green. Hopefully my putter will work for me in the next two rounds.
Siddikur Rahman (Tha) – Second round 71 (even par), Total 142 (even par)
It’s a tough course. I’m so happy with my scores so far. I had a good number of birdies out there but it’s a tricky course. You can make mistakes anytime out there. I’m quite happy with how I did in the first two rounds. You need to be really patient playing this golf course. Otherwise, you can’t play at all. I’m pleased with how I managed myself out there. I think that’s the key to making good scores. You can’t be aggressive on this golf course. A little mistake out there can cause you a shot or two. You really need to be patient and I am looking forward to the next two rounds. I hope I can continue to play like how I did for the first two rounds. I was really struggling with my caddy out there. I tried hard but only got a par. When I get aggressive, I made bogey. You really need to be patient out there.
