June 12: China’s Wu Ashun fired a superb third round seven-under-par 65 to trail the leader by one-shot at the Lyoness Open on Saturday.
Wu, who was part of Team Asia in the EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM earlier this year, fired seven birdies for a 10-under-par 206 total to head into the final round one-shot back of Zander Lombard of South Africa.
“I played really good today and I’m feeling good right now. The weather was nice to us too, the conditions on this course are great,” said Wu.
“I made a lot of birdies today and no bogeys so I’m getting a really good feeling at the moment. I just need to keep going now, don’t slow down and keep making birdies,” he added.
Over at the FedEx St Jude Classic on the PGA Tour, Korea’s Seungyul Noh shot a three-under-par 67 to move to tied fifth place.
The 2010 Asian Tour Oder of Merit champion moved back into contention on six-under-par 204 total after struggling to a 72 in round two. He now trails Daniel Berger by four shots.
