Yeangder TPC Rd 3: What They Said

Chan Kim (Usa) – Third Round 68 (-4), Total 206 (-10)
I feel very good. My game feels very solid this week. I’ve been working very hard on all aspects of my game and it’s really paying off. One of my highlights today was on hole three. I actually drove the green and I was on the front edge. I didn’t think that was possible. The greens are so firm out there. I just told myself to stay patient and keep grinding out there because birdies are not going to come easy out here. You got to work for the birdies so you have to keep trying to hit greens and hopefully make the putt. I’m happy to birdied the last hole. It’s easy to get ups and downs because the greens are so firm. I played it the way I wanted to and I’m just glad that I got up there pretty close.
I went back home during the break and actually changed coaches. We’ve been working on a lot especially the timing of my swing and making it simpler. It’s really helping a lot especially down the stretch where you get really tired. It’s very easy for you to swing out of sync but this week, my swing has a good tempo to it so it feels really good.
I kind of feel a pause at the top and a lot of people talked about it but that’s my sensation. I feel like I should stay at the top for a quick second before making my down swing. It’s been good and I’m looking forward to tomorrow.
I’m excited to be in contention with a lot of other veterans like Thaworn Wiratchant. I’m going to play with them tomorrow and it would be an honour to play with the Order of Merit winner last year as well as one of the best players here in Chinese Taipei. I haven’t played with Thaworn before so I’m definitely looking forward to playing tomorrow.

Usually in the past, I tend to mess up whenever I’m in contention but today, I told myself that I have to hang on there no matter what happens. After all, I’m playing the tournament in Chinese Taipei. I want to bring honour to my country by winning on home soil. Therefore, I keep telling myself to do my best and hang in there. I hope the other local players can play well too.
I try to push myself to do better when I’m out there and try to stay positive. I thought I should make the best out of the chances I had. I haven’t been playing well in the local events recently and I kind of learnt my lessons from there.
I hope I can play the same tomorrow. Before I hit the ball, I will tell myself that I must hit it into the hole. Everyone who was following me updates me on my leaderboard position so that got me excited a bit. It didn’t really affect me. I’m used to it. It’s like this when you play at home in Chinese Taipei. I remember playing with Thaworn on the Asian Tour before but that was a long time ago. I’m looking forward to playing with him again tomorrow.
I made 26 putts today.
It’s my first event on the Asian Tour this year and it has been awhile since I last played on the Asian Tour. It feels really different from the past. The playing standards are higher and the number of young players increased as well.
Thaworn Wiratchant (Tha) –  Third round 71 (-1), Total 207 (-9)
It is really hard to say what will happen tomorrow. I haven’t been hitting my irons good enough so I’m just happy to shoot nine-under. I’ll have to continue doing what I’ve been doing and rely on my chipping and putting
Baek Seuk-hyun (Kor) – Third Round (69 (-3), Total 211 (-5)
This golf course is hard to play on. Sometimes the wind picks up and that makes life really difficult. I just played my game and try to put it on the green and make up and down. My putting has been good so that explains my good score.
Anything can happen on this course. There are no easy holes here. When you make a mistake here, it is tough to get back on track. I just play my own game here and do my best.
I didn’t play golf at all during the break so I was a little bit nervous in this tournament. I’m really happy with my performance. I couldn’t imagine that I can play like this after a long break.
Yes, I have a good chance to make a final charge. I like being in this position because it doesn’t give me any pressure to win. I’m going to go out there and play my game. Any score under-par would be good.

I had a bad day. I didn’t really play well. I thought I could have played better. I’ve been hitting the ball solid for the past two days and suddenly I just can’t find my swing today. It’s not too bad overall. I’m not really disappointed. There’s still tomorrow and we’ll see what happens. The golf course is really tough today. It has been tough for the past few days. The greens seem to be getter harder by the day. I just couldn’t get round my game today otherwise I would’ve played even better. I am still down with a cold and cough but getting better. I’m feeling better than last night. I’ll stick to the same game plan and try to repeat the same as I played in the first two rounds. I hope it will be better tomorrow.
