Yeangder TPC – Rd 4 What They Said

Thaworn Wiratchant (Tha) – Final Round 68 (-4), Total 275 (-13)
After the first four holes, I didn’t think I had a chance to win the tournament at all because Chan Kim played very well. He is such a long hitter. Play was suspended for an hour and it got better for me after that because I birdied five and six.
Chan had a lot of advantage on the par fives so I had to tell myself to stay patient. I was three shots back after the 10th hole and at that point, I felt that I couldn’t win. I would have been satisfied with second place but then he started to drop shots and all of a sudden I was in front.
I’m very proud because I can still win at the age of 47 (turns 47 in December). I thought it would be much harder for me to win at this age but I was lucky this week. I was really struggling with my irons but I chipped and putted so well. I honestly, didn’t think that I could win.
I have no comment on Chan’s game because he is such a strong man with a perfect swing. He was unlucky to make some mistakes today. He is a young man and I think he has a bright future ahead. I really admire his game.
I was lucky when I won the Yeangder TPC in 2010. Nature helped me that year because we only played 54 holes!
Chan Kim (Usa) – Final Round 70 (-2), Total 276 (-12)
I played pretty solid throughout the whole round. I have no complaints. I kjsut had a few bad shots here and there. all and all I played a great tournament. I played solid the whole week and hit it really well. I want to carry that on in my next tournament and keep it going.
It was really fun just to learn from one of the game’s best goflers. I have a lot to learn from him and I’m glad I had the opportunity to play with him.
I hit a really good drive on the first hole. I had about 140 yards to the pin. I usually had a 180 so it might have been adrenaline! I got off to a good start so I can complain.
I got a little greedy. I tried to get my ball out further so I could get a shorter club into the green. I think that’s something which I have to learn because all I had to do today was actually play a bit smarter. That’s something that I learnt today. I will use this experience for my next tournament.

Angelo Que (Phi) – Final Round 66 (-6), Total 279 (-9)
Shooting 11-under-par during the weekend especially in Chinese Taipei is good because it is so tough to play here. I didn’t hit the ball good but I was chipping and putting well. I made only 21 putts.
I’ve been playing really well for the whole year. Every time I’m in contention I seem to keep going unlike before when I sort of slide down when I’m in contention. I think it is mainly because of my short game. I worked hard on my chipping and putting and it has been working. If I can get everything together for one whole week then I might have a chance to win.
I feel great. This week was pretty big. It was a week for me to secure my spot in the World Cup of Golf and my Asian Tour card for next season. At the same time, I think I have a chance to get into the CIMB Classic now. If I keep doing what I’ve been doing then I think I can get to play at the CIMB Classic for the first time.
I was trying to stay in the present. The plan was to play well. I wasn’t scared at all but a little bit nervous. I wasn’t as nervous like before where I knew that something bad could happen during a big week. I kept it together and I knew my putter would pull me through for the whole week and it did.
Chan Shih-chang (Tpe) – Final Round 67 (-5), Total 280 (-8)
My front nine was great but I didn’t have a good control of the greens speed on my back nine. I keep hitting it too lightly. The rain delay didn’t really affect me. Overall, I’m really happy with my performance today, especially since this is the final round and the course is not easy. I was hoping to strive for lead when I shot five birdies in the front nine. I thought I might have a chance to get into top three. I tried my best today.
My putting wasn’t as good in the back nine. I am happy to see a group of young golfers from my home course, Hsin Feng Golf Club, following me. I think it gives them an opportunity to see how a big tournament is like and learn from there. They hardly have any chances to see such big events since there aren’t many in Chinese Taipei. I hope they managed to learn something from my performance today!
The win in ADT Sabah Classic last week gave me a great boost in confidence. I’ve been telling myself to find that winning form from last week’s victory and reproduce it here this week. Whenever I’m not playing good, I will think of my winning putt in the playoff last week. I managed to putt the ball in even though it’s a long distance. It kind of motivates me to play well.
My aim is to do well in the remaining half of the season. I haven’t been playing well in the early half of the season so I’m going to focus on the upcoming events now.
Although it’s an ADT event that I won last week, it has no doubt given me the winning feel and confidence. I think I will do well in the remaining half of the season. I’m putting a lot better now compared to the first half of the season. I secured  a lot of birdies this week as well.
This tournament meant a lot to me. Not only is it being held in my home country Chinese Taipei, it is also sponsored by my benefactor, Mr. Emmet Hsu who has been a great help in my golf career. I think the best way to give back to him is to win the tournament.
