  1. Anura grew up from the caddie ranks from the Royal Colombo Golf Club and emerged as one of Sri Lanka's finest amateur players
  2. He won numerous amateur titles in the region but capped his career with a silver medal at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, Korea, finishing behind Shiv Kapur of India
  3. He subsequently turned professional and made an impact on the Asian Tour in 2004 with two top-10 performances, finishing tied fifth in the Sanya Open and ninth in the Tianjin Teda Open in China
