As a youngster, he used to dive into water hazards at his home course to retrieve golf balls for club members to earn some pocket money.

Career Highlights

  1. In 2011, Elmer shot to prominence when he forced his way into a play-off at the ISPS Handa Singapore Classic as one of the five players to challenge for the title
  2. It was the most number of players involved in a play-off in the Asian Tour history
  3. Elmer went the distance with India’s Himmat Rai before bowing out at the sixth extra play-off hole to finish tied-second
  4. His playoff woes continued in 2012 when he was defeated by David Lipsky, who chipped in for birdie on the first play-off hole to win the Handa Faldo Cambodian Classic
  5. The Filipino made amends by winning his first Asian Development Tour victory at the Aboitiz Invitational presented by ICTSI on home soil, defeating countryman Antonio Lascuna by six shots
  6. He secured a fifth place result at the Solaire Open on home soil early in 2013 and sealed his playing rights for 2014 by finishing tied third at the Venetian Macau Open
  7. He also became the first player to successfully defend a title when he won the 2013 Aboitiz Invitational on the Asian Development Tour
  8. He is a former champion of the Philippine Open.
