Career Highlights

  1. A multiple winner in Asia, Frankie is one of Asia’s living legends
  2. The veteran star has won titles across the region since the early 1980s and in 2007, he showed that he could still perform at the highest level by winning once on the Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour
  3. Frankie fended off Liang Wen-chong to win the Philippine Open for the second time in his career last year and it sparked a rich vein of form
  4. He also contended in the Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open before finishing tied second
  5. The Filipino credited his rise in form to corrective laser eye surgery and watching old videos of his past wins
  6. “I saw that I was so relaxed during those wins and I took on that attitude in 2007,” says Frankie
  7. He played regularly in Japan in the middle of the year and claimed the ABC Championship title for his seventh career win in the Land of the Rising Sun
  8. Was subsequently named the recipient of the UBS Special Achievement Awarded, which moved him to tears
  9. He is cool under pressure and possesses a classic golf swing
  10. Says his short game, especially his putting, let him down over the last few years before finding his form again
  11. He played on the Asian Tour in 2005 on a Board Exemption and reestablished himself, thanks to better form on the greens when he switched to the broomhandle putter
  12. Finished in the top-five on three occasions in 2005 at the Indonesia Open, Carlsberg Masters Vietnam and Volvo Masters of Asia in Thailand and regained his Japan card as well by finishing second in the Qualifying School
  13. Enjoyed a solid 2006 season when he finished second in the season-ending Volvo Masters of Asia in Bangkok, fourth in the Pakistan Open, tied 21st in the BMW Asian Open and tied eighth in the Volkswagen Masters-China
  14. He has also played in the US Masters
  15. Frankie’s best result during the 2009 Asian Tour season was tied-15th place at the Black Mountain Masters
  16. As he has turned 50, he is looking forward to competing on the Seniors Tour.
