Biography

He wanted to become a dentist if he was not a professional golfer. Turned professional when he was 20 as he did not want financial support from his parents.

Career Highlights

  1. Poom completed a convincing wire-to-wire victory at the inaugural 2017 TAKE Solutions Masters by two shots. He finished in a career-high eighth position on the Merit rankings that year and earned a maiden appearance at the 2018 EurAsiaCup where he represented Team Asia.
  2. Poom, together with Sunghoon Kang, defeated Henrik Stenson and Alex Levy in the first day four-ball match 5&4. Also beat Paul Casey 1 up on the final day Singles match.
  3. Produced a five-shot victory at the 2016 BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Zurich to win his first Asian Tour title
  4. Missed much of the end of season events due to a back injury
  5. Won his maiden Asian Development Tour title at the 2015 PGM Kinrara Championship in Malaysia.Earned Asian Tour card by finishing tied 18th at Qualifying School on home soil in 2014
  6. Led Queen’s Cup in 2014 into the final and finished second behind Thaworn Wiratchant.Helped Thailand claim the team gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games in 2013.
