He is the son of a stock broker in New Delhi. His parents wanted Shiv to study at Harvard University but Shiv opted for Purdue University as he felt it would benefit his golfing career. Was an All-American. Learned the game at Delhi Golf Club.

Career Highlights

  1. Shiv ended an 11-year and four months wait for a second Asian Tour title at the 2017 Yeangder Heritage in Chinese Taipei. He added two more victories at the Panasonic Open India and the Royal Cup in Thailand and became the only player to win thrice on the Asian Tour in 2017.
  2. Shiv signaled his arrival by winning the season-ending Volvo Masters of Asia in Bangkok in his rookie year in 2005 and was named Rookie of the Year
  3. In 2006, he qualified for his maiden Major at the British Open but missed the halfway cut at Royal Liverpool
  4. Won twice on the European Challenge Tour in 2013
  5. Also qualified for The Open Championship that year where he was amongst the leaders after day one before finishing tied 73rd
  6. Enjoyed an impressive joint 23rd finish at the U.S
  7. Open in 2014, his first appearance at the year’s second Major
  8. Finished tied 10th at Hero Indian Open and tied fifth at Panasonic Open Golf Championship in Japan after battling into contention in 2016
  9. Played on the European Tour for several seasons before losing full playing rights in 2016.Shiv enjoyed a stellar amateur career where the main highlight was winning the 2002 Asian Games individual gold medal in Korea.
