He grew up next to the Ta Shee Golf and Country Club near Taipei where he caddied for a few years during junior high school to earn some extra money. He eventually picked up the game and blossomed into one of the country’s finest amateurs, representing Chinese Taipei at two Asian Games. He also had lessons from the great ‘Mr Lu’ Liang-huan, whose worldly advice was to ‘enjoy golf and not just win, win, win.’ Apart from fishing, Yeh also enjoys mountain trekking.

Career Highlights

  1. Fisherman’s son Yeh Wei-tze landed his biggest catch at the 2000 Malaysian Open, a co-sanctioned event with Europe
  2. Also qualified for the British Open at St Andrews, despite being unable to squeeze in a practice round at Leven Links
  3. Yeh’s victory in the Malaysian Open made him the third Asian player – after ‘Mr Lu’ and Isao Aoki of Japan – to win a European Tour sanctioned event
  4. After cutting down on his playing Schedule and concentrating mostly in local events, Yeh battled his way into contention at the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship on home soil before finishing tied fifth and eighth at the 2013 and 2014 editions respectively.
